Next, we'll be re-interpreting the flying monkey

What a fun challenge: Several top designers were asked to re-interpret Dorothy's red slippers for the fashionista of today, and were allowed unlimited use of Swarowski crystal elements. The creations were unveiled during NY fashion week and will be making the rounds before being auctioned off to benefit the pediatric AIDS foundation. Guys, more than anything I love shoes, so I was pretty excited to see these babies. It was a bit difficult to track down photos, so thanks to everyone whose flicks I peeped. Let the fashion show begin:

Dorothy's original shoes from the classic film. Thanks yahoo news.

The whimsical display. Thanks prnewswire:

From top to bottom: A. Testoni, LAMB, Diane von Furstenberg. Thanks cigarettes:

Sergio Rossi. Thanks nj.com

From top to bottom: Oscar de la Renta, Stuart Weitzman, Abaete, Alberto Ferrari, Moschino (I love the droopy oversized bows).

And finally, thanks to the fashion spot, top to bottom, Betsey Johnson, Botkier, Tuleh, Jimmy Choo, and Tibi.

Bye, bye Kansas. Hellooo, New York!

These are all so gorgeous! Ah, when I was little the thing I wanted most in the whole world was a pair of ruby slippers... Those lovely Botkier ones will do!

Thank you for the link in your sidebar, by the way!
